Due to his condition, he became confined to his bed beginning 2001, and when he made an appeal for help in 2006 on television, he got immediate assistance from dietitians and doctors. Uribe refused surgery and instead vowed to go on a diet, and using the Zone diet consisting of fish, chicken, spring greens and fruits, Uribe began to lose weight and by 2008 had lost 510 lbs.
David once weighed 630 pounds, but one day he decided enough was enough and began a serious diet and workout program. Beginning in 2003 and weighing over 600 lbs., David would, after four years of serious dieting and carb cycling, lose over 400 lbs. and became a certified personal skin trainer.
